Kendall Shue

Or, ‘Mrs. Shue!’ When I started teaching 7th grade World History, I wasn’t quite sure where to begin. I hated it when my previous history classes never got through the whole curriculum (anyone else remember cramming the Vietnam War into ONE DAY?!). So, I created a year-long guide to keep myself on track throughout the entire year.

But then I noticed my students were struggling to really grasp the information I was giving them. That’s when I developed my proven ‘History and Skills Placement’ test. Once I started using the data from this test, my students began to truly understand what was being taught! By incorporating data, year-long pacing, and engaging lessons, my classes learned more and had way more fun!

My classroom caught the attention of district personnel, and before I knew it, I was writing the curriculum for all of our middle school social studies classes! And that’s what brought me here—sharing my lessons and resources with you to help you teach amazing lessons that reach ALL of your students, not just the ones on grade level.

My Teaching Philosophy

Teaching isn’t just about delivering content; it’s about making connections and fostering a love for learning. My approach is all about differentiation and student-led instruction. I believe that meeting students where they are and helping them grow is the key to their success. By using student data, I tailor my lessons to address each student’s unique needs and abilities.

History isn’t a cookie-cutter subject. As teachers, we can’t expect all students to learn the same way. That’s why differentiation in the history classroom is just as important as it is in math and ELA. With this in mind, I created a proven test (History and Skills Placement) to assess my students and place them in levels where they can receive the EXACT instruction they need. Just because a student can’t read on grade level doesn’t mean they can’t access the material—it simply means we need to change how we present it to them.

I see Social Studies as deeply interconnected with English Language Arts, which allows for a richer and more comprehensive learning experience. My goal is to create fun, engaging, and data-centered lessons that not only educate but also inspire my students to reach their full potential. That’s why EVERY resource you get from my shop comes in at least 4 different variations, tailored to meet the different levels of your students. Once students are leveled, the rest of your year is as easy as pie!

With 9 years of experience in both middle and high school education, I’ve honed my skills in crafting lessons that are both effective and enjoyable. I’ve served on multiple district committees and have been honored as Teacher of the Year, which has fueled my passion for designing curriculum that makes a difference.

Ultimately, I aim to create a classroom environment where students feel valued, motivated, and excited to learn.
